There are many people, including children, who spend hours gaming. They don’t consider gaming a waste of time and don’t see the spiritual dangers of video games, but they consider gaming a positive source of entertainment and a way to relax and don’t want to hear anything about gaming addiction. Some people even say that gaming is good for your development. But is gaming good for you and harmless and does gaming reduce stress? Or is gaming bad for you and causes anxiety, depression, insomnia, irritation, angriness, hatred, violence, etc.? What does gaming do to the minds of people? What are the negative effects of gaming? And what about Christians, can Christians play video games? What is the spiritual danger of gaming that many people are not aware of?
The imaginary realm of gaming
Many men, women, and children spend hours playing (video) games on their computers (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.), smartphones, tablets, etc. and fancy themselves in an imaginary world.
They play the most horrible games, like Quake 3, League of Legends, Grand Theft Auto V, Gears of War, World of Warcraft (surprisingly enough, many women also play this game), Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Mafia III, Dead rising II, Killer is dead, Dead Island, Dark Souls II & III, Smite, Fallout 4, The walking dead, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, Red dead redemption II, Call of duty: Black Ops II, III and IV, Counter-strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Diablo III, Minecraft, Fortnight: Battle Royal, Moral Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, etc.
But also ‘innocent’ games are played, like Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Bejeweled 2, Farmville, Mahjong, Cake Shop 2, etc.
But what happens to the mind when you play these games? What is the danger of gaming?
What does gaming do to your mind?
Gaming has a significant effect on your mind. In the spiritual realm, video games defile your mind. How does gaming defile your mind? As soon as you begin to play your soul connects with the spiritual kingdom of darkness; the demonic powers that are behind the game you play.
You have made the first step by switching on the computer and playing. By participating in a game your mind interacts in an imaginary world and interacts with demonic powers. You open the door for these demonic powers to enter your life. It is just like watching television. The only difference with the television is that when you play a video game, you become a partaker of this imaginary dark world.
Most people are against violence, cruelties, rape, crime, war, and murder, while in the meantime they play the most horrific games like: ’world of Warcraft’, ‘league of Legends’, ‘grand theft auto V’, ‘Diablo III’, Mass Effect, Madworld, Saw, Agony etc., and become partakers of war, crimes, sex, rape, violence, cruelties, murder, etc., by fighting and killing many people.
Many people don’t believe in the spiritual realm and deny the spiritual realm. But isn’t it a coincidence, that many of these video games represent the spiritual warfare in the heavenly places? The war between good and evil? Light and darkness? Life and death?
Many games contain the most despicable, horrible creatures (demons). And let’s not forget the music and the sounds of these games that originate from hell.
Even the most ‘innocent’ games like Candy Crush, Angry Birds, FarmVille, Pokemon Go, etc. are not as innocent as they look. Because these so-called innocent games contain witchcraft and magic. As soon as you play, a spirit of witchcraft enters your life and shall control you, so that you become addicted to these games.
The danger of gaming
You may consider gaming innocent and harmless and a way to relax. But the reality is, that there is no single game that is innocent, harmless, or causes any kind of relaxation.
The danger of gaming is, that as soon as you participate, evil powers of darkness enter your life, including the spirit of witchcraft and magic, which causes you to become addicted. When you play a (video) game, your mind is fed by the evil powers of darkness.
When you sow in your flesh, you shall reap the fruit of the flesh. You shall become blunt and impatient towards your spouse and family members. You shall argue more often, become selfish, prideful, rebellious, agitated, angry, furious, hateful, violent, anxious, depressed, restless, perverted, you shall experience insomnia, etc.
The powers of darkness, that are behind these games, shall control your mind, your soul. You shall be dominated by these evil powers of darkness and since they control your mind, they shall tell you what to do.
Gaming has a significant influence on the minds of people
Gaming has a significant influence on the minds of people. As you know, the devil only has one goal, and that’s to steal, kill, and eventually destroy people. He uses many entertainment tools, like television, the internet, social media, books, education, and gaming, next to drugs, alcohol, and so on.
The devil wants to take the minds of people captive so that he can control their minds and eventually destroy the person completely. He knows that every word, action, and behavior of a person derives from the mind.
The devil knows how powerful the mind of a person is, and therefore he wants to control the mind.
When he controls the mind of a person, he can seduce, lie, steal, kill, and destroy.
The devil not only kills and destroys the person himself, through the mind, but he also drags other innocent people into his plan of destruction. For example rapes, (family) murders, mass shootings, etc.
Depression is a fruit of demonic possession and can be very dangerous. How many people suffer from depression these days? When a person suffers from depression, (s)he is dominated and led by the powers of darkness. Can a believer be depressed? No, because a real son of God; a born-again Christian, is controlled and led by the Holy Spirit. Therefore (s)he is not controlled by the spirits of darkness, and therefore, a born-again Christian cannot suffer from depression.
Will a born-again Christian play video games?
Now, we have come to a crucial question: “Will a Christian play video games?” The simple answer is: “No!” Maybe a carnal Christian, who walks after the flesh may play a video game, but a born-again Christian, who walks after the Spirit shall never play video games. Because a born-again Christian discerns the spiritual realm.
A born-again Christian shall see the spiritual danger of gaming. (S)he shall see the demonic powers that operate behind these games and (s)he doesn’t want to open a spiritual door and become entangled with the demonic forces of the kingdom of darkness.
A born-again Christian shall never open himself or herself for evil demonic powers to enter. Because a born-again Christian knows that his or her job is to rule over these spirits, instead of these spirits ruling over them and taking them captive.
The born-again Christian shall sow in the spirit and not in the flesh. (S)he shall not fill himself or herself with the things of this world.
(S)he shall not defile his/her mind with darkness. But (s)he shall fill and renew the mind with the Word of God and guard the mind.
God has given a sound mind ( 2 Timothy 1:7) and not a mind that is full of darkness; evil, fear, and destruction.
The born-again Christian shall delight in the Word of God and shall meditate on the Word, day and night. Because only then, shall a person become like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season, and his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper (Psalms 1:2-3)
You will reap what you sow
Gaming is not relaxing, just like watching television is not relaxing. It may seem relaxing and you may feel relaxed at first, but eventually, you will reap, what you’ve sown in your flesh, which is destruction. Because you will be controlled and guided by the powers of darkness.
Jesus has not set you free so that you would still be subjected and controlled by demonic powers, who controlled you in your old former life before you knew Jesus Christ and dictated to you what to do.
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:24-25)
When you repented and laid down your life, Jesus set you free from every oppression of darkness. You have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of God. But now it is up to you, what you will do with this spiritual freedom, that He has given you.
Will you listen to Jesus, obey and serve Jesus and spend time with Him and in Him (The Word), and stay in His Kingdom? Or will you listen to your flesh and obey and serve your flesh (your lusts, desires, will, emotions, feelings, etc.), and serve the devil and return to his kingdom?
