For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:1-3)
Paul didn’t want to keep the saints at Colosse ignorant about the great conflict he had for them, and for them, who were at Laodicea and for those, who had not seen Paul in person. Because Paul had much to endure for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
However, Paul didn’t let the people and circumstances; all the persecutions, hardships, imprisonments, etc., stop him from doing, what God had called him to do.
Paul trusted in God and was faithful to God, and because of that, Paul was reliable and God could trust Paul.
Paul endured the great conflict, so that their hearts would be encouraged and united in the sphere of love and resulting in all the riches of the full assurance of the understanding, resulting in an advanced and perfect experiential knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ, in Whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Paul didn’t mean the wisdom and knowledge of the world, which are foolishness for God, but the wisdom and knowledge of God, which are foolishness for the world (a.o. 1 Corinthians 1:20-21; 2:14; 3:18-20)
The treasures of wisdom and knowledge
In Christ are all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Therefore it is important to personally get to know Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Living Word.
If you spend time with Him and read and study the Word of God, then you will get to know Jesus Christ and God, the Father, and His will. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, which are hid in Him, will be revealed to you.
As the new creation, you have become a partaker of the inheritance of the saints of the light and you have been given an inheritance in Christ.
But if you don’t seek and find out what the inheritance of the saints is, you will never know, what God has left behind for you in Jesus Christ. If you don’t know your inheritance, you can’t walk in it.
Therefore open your Bible, and get to know Him, and you will find all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
