One of the fruit of the Spirit is the fruit love. But what does the Bible say about the fruit love? Because in these days most Christians give a whole other meaning to the word love than the Bible (the Word of God) does. When do you walk in love and bear the fruit of love in your life?
What Does The Bible Say About The Fruit Love In The Life Of Jesus
In the previous blog post, the love of God was discussed. How the love of God is contrary to the love of the world. In this blog post, we will look at the life of Jesus and how Jesus walked in love and bore the fruit of love in His life.
Jesus is the Living Word, Who became flesh to fulfill the great redemption work for humanity. Jesus was born of the Seed of God and not of the seed of man.
Although He had God’s nature, Jesus had the ability to sin. Otherwise, the Holy Spirit would not have led Jesus to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
But the love of God was shed in His heart. Jesus loved God above all. Therefore Jesus spend time in prayer and hearing the words of His Father in the temple.
He knew the will of His Father. And because Jesus loved His Father, He obeyed His words and kept His commandments and did His will.
Because He walked in obedience to the will of the Father, Jesus walked without sin and iniquity.
Jesus didn’t destroy the Law of Moses and the words of the prophet. Because He knew they originated from His Father. But Jesus fulfilled the Law by walking in His Father’s will and doing His commandments.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil (Matthew 5:17)
Jesus Walked In Obedience To God In Love
Jesus obeyed the words of God and kept His commandments, whereby He walked in love and produced the fruit love in His life. If Jesus would have sinned, meaning that He would have rebelled and become disobedient to the words and the will of God, He would not have walked in love. He would not have obeyed God’s first commandment which is, to love God with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind and strength.
Walking in sins and iniquities means: walking in the way of unrighteousness (the way of the world). And doing those things that oppose the words and commandments of God, which represent His will.
For example: when God says, Love your neighbour as yourself and forgive, but you don’t want to forgive and walk in hate and unforgiveness, then you sin. (Read also: What is the secret of forgiveness?)
Jesus didn’t walk in a carnal love. A love that accepts all behaviour, including sins and iniquities, for the sake of living in peace with others, to be liked or to get more followers. No, Jesus walked in a Godly love towards His Father first. A love that submits to God and serves Him and does His will and denies the will, the lusts and desires of the flesh.
The love in which Jesus walked in, didn’t bring peace and united the people. But His love caused division among the people and stirred up strive.
Jesus Didn’t Come To Bring Peace But Division
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law (Luke 12:51-53)
Jesus didn’t come to bring peace, nor to bring unity and compromise with the world (darkness). But the mission of Jesus was to preach and bring the Kingdom of God to the house of Israel and expose the (works) of darkness and set the catptives free.
Jesus’ mission was to take the authority from the devil, deliver man from the oppression of the devil, and restore (heal) man in his position and reconcile man back to God.
Jesus was not loved by the wicked, who belonged to the world and the ruler of the world (the devil).
No, the wicked hated Jesus. Why? Because Jesus exposed their evil works and testified that their works were evil.
Therefore, they couldn’t stand Jesus and wanted to get rid of Him. Their hatred towards Jesus, the Son of God, led Him to the cross.
Jesus said, that when a person repents and turns to Him and become a new creation, the world would hate and persecute them.
Jesus said, that a servant is not above his Master. If they have persecuted Me, they will persecute you.
But despite the hatred, opposition and persecution of the world, Jesus love His Father and stayed faithful to Him unto death.
Jesus Walked In Obedience To His Father And Bore The Fruit Love In His Life
Jesus showed us, how to walk as the new creation; born of the Holy Spirit. He set the example and showed us how to walk in the love of God and bear the fruit love.
Jesus bore the fruit love in His life, which was visible through His love for His Father. His love for His Father was shown through His obedience to the will of the Father.
Jesus gave up everything for His Father. He gave up His whole life to serve Him, to obey Him, and to please His Father in everything.
What Does The Fruit love mean according to the Bible?
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love (John 15:10)
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked (1 John 2:3-6)
Walking in the love of God and bear the fruit love, begins with your love for Jesus and the Father and obedience to the Holy Spirit. When you love Jesus, you obey His words and do what pleases Him.
If you love Jesus, you obey His commandments instead of walking in rebellion against His words and commandments in sin.
The love of God loves righteousness and hates evil (sin). Therefore if you bear the fruit love, you no longer sin but you do what Jesus commanded you to do.
When you walk in love and bear the fruit love you keep His commandments and fulfill the Law. Because the Law reveals God’s nature and will and what pleases God and what not.
The commandments and warnings that are written in the law, originated from God’s great love for His (carnal) people (house of Israel).
His people were carnal and not spiritual. They couldn’t see and understand the spirit realm and the Kingdom of God. Therefore God gave them carnal laws, which derived from the spiritual laws of His Kingdom and were meant for the flesh, to keep the flesh subdued to the will of God.
The Law of Moses was given out of love for His people, to keep them and deliver them from evil.
The New Creation Walks In Love And Fulfills The Law Of God
Jesus knew this. That’s why Jesus said, that He didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfil the law. If Jesus would have said, that He came to destroy the law, then God wouldn’t be the same yesterday, today and forever more. But God is the same yesterday, today and forever more.
If Jesus would have said, that He came to destroy the law, then He would have turned Himself against God. The same Spirit of God, Who gave the law to Moses, lived in Jesus. (Read also: What happened 50 days after Passover?).
The Holy Spirit reigned in the life of Jesus. Because of that Jesus walked in the commandments of His Father.
He kept all the commandments of His Father. By keeping the commandments of His Father, Jesus walked in love and bore the fruit love in His life.
If you are born again in Christ, you have received the Holy Spirit. Just like Jesus received the Holy Spirit. By receiving the Holy Spirit, the laws of God that represent His will are written upon your heart.
When the Holy Spirit reigns in your lives, you shall keep His commandments and walk according to His will. By keeping His commandments and walking in His will, you shall fulfill the law (moral part of the law of Moses).
Through faith you shall establish the law. Not because, you have a paper with the written laws, telling you what to do and what not to do. But you shall fulfill the law, because you have received a new nature; God’s nature
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people (Jeremiah 31:33)
What Do You Do, When You Love Someone?
When you really love someone, you want to please that person. You wouldn’t do something that would make that person sad or hurt that person, or do something that this person dislikes. When you really love Jesus, you wouldn’t do something that would make Him sad. But you shall do those things, which pleases Him. And what pleases Him is to keep His commandments and walk in His will in righteousness. So that Jesus and the Father will be exalted.
If Jesus came to give His life and make atonement for the sins and iniquities for whole humanity, do you think that Jesus would approve that you keep walking in sin?
When you keep walking in sin, doing those things which are against the will of God, then you don’t love Jesus, but you love sin. It shows, that you love yourself and the will, lusts and desires of your flesh. You don’t serve Christ through righteousness, but you serve the devil through sin.
A Tree Can’t Produce The fruit Love And Righteousness And The Fruit Hate and Sin
Many times people, who call themselves Christians say, But Jesus sat and ate together with sinners. Yes, that’s partially true. Because if you keep reading you find out the true reason why Jesus ate with sinners and prostitutes.
The devil seduces people by partial parts of Scriptures. The people who don’t know the Word of God in the whole context, are easily seduced by the devil.
The people, who listen to the devil take parts of a Scripture and use them for their own benefit, to fulfill the lists and desires of their flesh.
If you keep reading, you will find out the truth.
First of all, the sinners were Jews, who deviated from the Law of Moses, and not Gentiles.
Secondly, Jesus didn’t sit down and ate with sinners to have communion with their sins and accept their sins. No! Jesus brought the sinners, who received Him, to repentance!
And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Matthew 9:10-13)
The righteous do not need to repent, but sinners do.
Christians should follow the example of Jesus. Instead of fellowshipping with sinners (who don’t know God and live in unbelief, rebellion and disobedience to God) and living like them, they should live holy and righteous and call sinners to repentance.
Does The Church Have A Wrong Interpretation Of The Fruit Love?
Does the church have a wrong interpretation of the fruit love? Because love doesn’t mean accepting evil and disobedience to God; sins and iniquities. It doesn’t mean that Christians should bring sinners into the church and receive them in ‘love’ and accept and approve their deeds (which oppose the will of God) and let them be and making them believe that they are living right.
When Christians leave sinners in their sinful (fallen) state and approve of their sins, then they don’t walk in God’s love and don’t bear the fruit love.
Christians should call the people to repentance. So that they can repent and be delivered from the power of the devil and sin and be saved and reconciled with God by the blood of Jesus
They should walk like Jesus and confront sinners with their sinful state and their sins instead of allowing their sins.
When the Holy Spirit exposes their sins and testify that their works are evil, sinners have a choice, to run away or to repent of their sins and turn to Christ and become born again.
Love doesn’t mean accepting sins and iniquities and changing the will of God, so that people can keep satisfying and serving their flesh.
When you walk in sin instead of righteousness, you will be a servant of sin and not a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Love Doesn’t Compromise With Sin But Love Calls Sinners To Repentance
Jesus gives to everyone the ability to repent and be converted. When you repent, He cleanses you from all your sins and iniquities and restores (heals) you from your fallen position and reconciles you with God. The only thing you have to do is to lay down your life and become born again in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
How many times did Jesus say “Go, and sin no more”. Jesus walked in love but He never approved sin. He could never approve sin, because sin is evil and means disobedience to God. It means doing those things, which the Father hates and condemns.
Jesus loved (and still loves) His Father whole heartedly, He would never do something or approve of something that displeases the Father. Jesus completely submitted Himself to His Father and He kept all of His commandments.
The fruit love is God’s love produced in the heart of the yielded saint by the Holy Spirit, a love that impels one to deny himself for the sake of the loved One (1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (KWT)
Are you willing to deny yourself, your will, lusts, desires, and dreams and give up your life for Jesus? Only then wil you be able to walk in love and bear the fruit love in your life
The Fruit Love In The Lives Of Christians
Maybe you think you walk in love, by always being kind, helpful towards people, doing charity works, accepting all things and compromise. But these things don’t prove that you walk after the Spirit and bear the fruit love. The world can also be kind and helpful, and do charity works, but they don’t bear the fruit love of the Spirit, because their spirit is still dead.
You walk in love and bear the fruit love if you walk after the Spirit in obedience to God’s Word and keep the commandments of Jesus, which are also the commandments of the Father, in righteousness.
The fruit love is a fruit of the Spirit and not of the flesh.
This love of God that comes from the Spirit differs from the carnal love (the love according to the world).
The love of the world compromise with darkness, evil and sin and allow people to walk in sin (in rebellion and disobedience to God).
The love of God doesn’t compromise with darkness, evil and sin, but separates from darkness, evil and sin and call those, who live in bondage of the devil, sin, and death, in darkness, to repentance, so that they’ll be delivered and saved.
God’s love doesn’t want anyone to perish and go to hell.
The love of God makes Christians to submit to Jesus and be His witnesses on earth and preach the gospel and save as many souls as possible from damnation.
The Divine Love
This means that it’s not about you anymore; it’s not about what you want, or what you think or feel, but it is all about Him; what He wants and what He thinks.
Divine love distinguishes, from worldly love, in that, you do the will of God and walk in His will. You shall turn away from sin and iniquities and sanctify yourself continuously by the blood of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit until you are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ.
You shall love Him above all (including yourself), and because you love Him, and walk in His commandments, you shall bear the fruit love. When you bear the fruit love you shall be able, to love your neighbour as yourself. You shall treat them, the way you want to be treated.
