What is Good Friday?

Every year, Good Friday is remembered by Christians. But what is the meaning of Good Friday? What happened on Good Friday? What does the Bible say about Good Friday? Why is Good Friday such an important day to Christians and humanity?

What happened on Good Friday?

On Good Friday, we remember the Jesu Kristi korsfästelseWe remember on Good Friday, that Jesus died for humanity and took all the sins, Ondska, sjukdom, and diseases upon Him. Jesus carried all sins and iniquities and took the penalty for sin, which is death, på sig själv.

Jesus gjordes till synd

Jesus took all the sins of the world upon Himself, so that everyone, som skulle tro på honom, would be redeemed by His blood, from sin and death, and be reunited with the Father.

All the redeemed of the Lord are saved and will receive eternal life.

När du tror på Jesus Kristus, du är redeemed from your sinful state and sinful nature

His blood redeemed you from the authority of the devil and brought you into the Kingdom of God. You are no longer a sinner, but you have become a saint.

When you become a saint, it means, that you should also walk like a saint and walk in holiness and righteousness. Just like Jesus walked in holiness and righteousness, because He has become your new Owner.

Before you accepted Jesus Christ, as your Saviour and Lord, you walked according to the will of the devil (your previous owner).

But now, you ought to walk according to the will of Jesus (your new Owner). You can find His will in His Word. The Word is Jesus, and through His Word, He will reveal and share His will with you.

The whipping post

And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, ordspråk, This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, ordspråk, This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you (Luke 22:19-20)

Jesus took the bread, which symbolizes His body in the visible world. Every time you take the bread and eat the bread, you remember His body, which was given for you. You remember the stripes, He took upon Himself, on the whipping post, on Good Friday. You remember that by His stripes you were healed. Ja, all sickness and disease He took upon Him on the whipping post.

Men han blev sårad för våra överträdelsers skull, Han blev slagen för våra missgärningars skull: vår frids tuktan vilade på Honom; och med Hans sår blir vi helade (Jesaja 53:5)

By whose stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24)

The finished work at Calvary

After the whipping post, Jesus continued His way to Calvary; the place, where He would die, for all humanity. Ja, He would be sacrificed for all humanity.

On Good Friday, Jesus was pierced at the cross and carried all the iniquities and sins of mankind. Jesus took all the sins, Ondska, and eventually death upon Himself. So that everyone, who believes in Him would receive redemption, eternal life, a life reunited with the Father. Alla, who is redeemed by the blood of Jesus, will not face death.

Den gamla mannen är korsfäst i Kristus

Hans blod (His life) was shed at the cross. The wine you take symbolizes His blood (His life) that washed away all your sins and iniquities and redeemed you from sin nature.

Jesus had one purpose, and that was to do the will of His Father. He knew, how much God loves people.

Ja, Jesus knew how much God loves du, and because He saw that great love of His Father for you, He gave His life for you. So that you will be reunited with your Creator, your Father in Heaven.

Don’t ever forget His great sacrifice. Never forget the cross and the blood of Jesus Christ. But remember daily, what He has done for you and what He has given you.

Varje dag, you should take up your cross and follow Jesus, which means that you act and live according to His will, and not your own will anymore. If you walk in His will, you will please Him, and exalt Him in everything you do.
