In Revelation 2:19-27, Jesus said to the church in Thyatira that the church allowed the woman Jezebel, who called herself a prophetess and operated from the depths of Satan. The spirit of Jezebel and the doctrine of Jezebel seduced the servants of Jesus Christ to commit fornication and idolatry. In the Old Testament of the Bible, we also read about a woman Jezebel. This Jezebel was the wife of Ahab, king of Israel. The similarities between queen Jezebel and the woman Jezebel, who Jesus mentioned in the Book of Revelation, are remarkable. In this age, the Jezebel spirit is still active in the church and the doctrine of Jezebel is taught. What is the Jezebel spirit? How does the Jezebel spirit operate? And what is the doctrine of Jezebel?
Who was queen Jezebel in the Bible?
Queen Jezebel was a pagan princess, the daughter of Ethbaal; the king of the Zidonians, and the priest of Baal. Queen Jezebel served and worshipped Baal. Jezebel ate with the prophets of the groves and practiced sorceries, witchcraft, and fornication (1 Kings 18:19, 2 Kings 9:22). Ahab, king of Israel, was a wicked man, who didn’t submit himself unto God and didn’t obey His commandments. Instead, Ahab trusted in his own knowledge and understanding and did what seemed good and profitable to him. Despite the warnings of God, Ahab took Jezebel, the pagan princess to become his wife.
Ahab rebelled against God and His commandments and entered into a marriage with the pagan princess Jezebel, but Jezebel didn’t convert from her pagan religion to the God of Israel. Instead, Jezebel influenced her husband king Ahab and ensured that her husband Ahab served and worshiped her god Baal.
King Ahab already did evil in the sight of God above all that were before him, but during Ahab’s marriage with Jezebel, it only became worse.
King Ahab was not only disobedient to the commandments of God, but Ahab built an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria, and made a grove. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him (1 Kings 16:30-33)
Queen Jezebel was manipulative
Queen Jezebel had such a manipulative influence on her husband, that he was trapped in her manipulative power and allowed his wife to kill the prophets of God in the land. Jezebel silenced the prophets of God, who preached the truth of God, by killing them and replacing them with the prophets of Baal.
The prophets of the grove sat at the table of queen Jezebel. Because of her manipulative power over king Ahad and the power, which king Ahab had given to Jezebel by submitting to her and obeying her words, the people of God became apostates.
The people of God bowed down to Baal and served and worshipped him and committed fornication (sexual immorality) and spiritual and physical idolatry.
Queen Jezebel used the power of her husband to execute her will
Queen Jezebel used the power of her husband to execute her will, which was controlled by the ruler of the world; the devil and the kingdom of darkness. Queen Jezebel not only killed the prophets of God but she killed everyone, who bothered her and her husband and didn’t submit to them and obey their will.
When Naboth refused to give his vineyard to King Ahab, Jezebel took care of the problem by killing Naboth. Jezebel used the power and the name of her husband, his royal status, and her lies to kill Naboth and give Ahab what he wanted (1 Kings 21:1-16).
When Ahab informed Jezebel about Mount Carmel and how Elijah proved that the God of Israel is the One and only true God, and how he had the prophets of Baal killed by the sword, Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah and threatened him that the same would happen to him. When Elijah heard Jezebel’s threat, he ran away and hid (1 Kings 19:1-3).
But in the end, it was queen Jezebel, who was killed by the wrath of God in a horrible way and Elijah, who was taken by God, by His chariots of fire and horses of fire, in a whirlwind to heaven (2 Kings 2:11, 2 Kings 9).
The similarities between queen Jezebel and the prophetess Jezebel
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searches the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come (Revelation 2:19-27)
Just like queen Jezebel, who refused to repent but held on to her pagan religion and kept serving and worshipping Baal and ate with his prophets, played the harlot, and practiced witchcraft, the woman Jezebel, who Jesus mentioned, also held on to her pagan religion and occult practices. While Jesus gave the woman Jezebel time to repent through His words, the woman Jezebel didn’t want to repent of her adultery. Jezebel continued her doctrine and kept practicing adultery, therefore Jesus cast Jezebel into bed.
When we look at queen Jezebel, we see queen Jezebel’s big influence on her husband king Ahab. Because of Jezebel’s big influence on her husband king Ahab, Jezebel not only ensured that her husband bowed down to Baal and began to serve and worship Baal, but that also the people of God bowed down to Baal and began to serve and worship Baal and committed adultery and idolatry and became apostate of the living God.
The woman Jezebel, who Jesus mentioned in Revelation also had a big influence and power in the church. She called herself a prophetess and walked in the supernatural. However, God had not appointed her as a prophetess. The woman Jezebel was a false prophet, who seduced and taught the servants of Jesus Christ to commit (spiritual and physical) adultery and to eat things sacrificed to idols, which caused them to become apostate of the living God.
Queen Jezebel killed the prophets of God. The prophet Jezebel did the exact same thing because she seduced the servants of Jesus to commit fornication and eat things sacrificed to idols, which caused them to sin and spiritually die.
Jesus said, that He would cast all those who committed adultery with the woman Jezebel into great tribulation and Jesus would kill Jezebel’s children with death. Because Jesus gives to every one according to their works.
Queen Jezebel and the prophet Jezebel were both influenced by the powers of darkness.
Queen Jezebel had communion with the prophets of Baal and practiced sorceries and witchcraft, which came forth out of the depths of Satan.
The prophetess Jezebel was not appointed by God as a prophetess, but Jezebel had called herself a prophetess.
The prophetess Jezebel didn’t prophecy by the Holy Spirit, but by the evil powers of darkness. The works of Jezebel proved that Jezebel wasn’t a prophetess of God, because Jezebel committed fornication and idolatry. All those, who followed the prophetess Jezebel and the doctrine of Jezebel did the same thing and also committed fornication and idolatry.
Maybe the prophetess Jezebel and her followers thought that she was appointed by God and prophesied by the Holy Spirit out of the depths of God. But Jesus didn’t say that the woman and her children were familiar with the depths of God but with the depths of Satan. Therefore the prophetess Jezebel operated by the power of the devil and not by the power of God.
The Jezebel spirit kills the church
In this age, there are many churches that are influenced by this dangerous seducing spirit of Jezebel and obey and submit to the Jezebel spirit instead of Jesus Christ; the Word. There is so much to say about the spirit of Jezebel and the doctrine of Jezebel and all of the manipulative methods, she uses to seduce the servants of Jesus Christ, and silence the servants of Jesus Christ, but the most important thing to know is that the Jezebel spirit kills the church spiritually.
The spirit of Jezebel works in both men and women and teaches and seduces the sons and daughters of God from her dedication to the devil and her occult wisdom, knowledge, and experience of the occult, to deviate from the words of God and commit fornication, adultery, and idolatry.
The spirit of Jezebel is a murderous spirit because by her false doctrine and lies she manipulates the believers and spiritually kills the sons and daughters of God and makes them followers and servants of the devil; the ruler of this world (Read also: ‘The vine of sodom‘).
Through pious words and seductive doctrines, that look spiritual and godly, the sons and daughters of God are misled and come in contact with the occult.
They are influenced by the demonic powers of darkness, which causes them to become spiritually passive and deviate from God and His Word and participate in the fornication (sexual immorality) and idolatry of the world.
The spirit of Jezebel operates from the kingdom of darkness. The prophecies and doctrines are influenced by the kingdom of darkness and carry death within them. Therefore her words don’t produce life but death.
Her words and doctrines ensure that the people of God fall asleep and become passive for the things of God and apostate from Him and get involved with sexual uncleanness and become adulterous with the world.
This spirit of Jezebel silences the witnesses and servants of Jesus Christ, by seducing them to fornication, adultery, and idolatry and causes them to live like the world.
The Bible; the Word of God, is clear, but those, who are influenced by the spirit of Jezebel are seduced and bewitched by her evil power and are not willing to repent.
The spirit of Jezebel uses the power of people, who hold high positions in the church and are influential and famous, to reach her goal, which is to spiritually kill the sons and daughters of God and make them sons and daughters of the devil.
Although the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, the doctrine of Balaam and the doctrine of Jezebel come from three different grounds, they all come from the same source; the kingdom of darkness. Therefore these three doctrines have the same effect on Christians, which is, apostasy of God and His Word.
These false doctrines ensure that the people of God bow to the devil, live after the flesh enters sideways and get involved with sexual immoralities, adultery, and idolatry which kill their spirit.
The church; the woman Jezebel
Throughout the years, the church has compromised with the world, to attract more people to the church. Because of that the church has listened to the will, lust, and desires of the carnal man instead of God and His will. The church has made more members than saved souls, which is visible in the lives of the people, who call themselves Christians and are members of the local church, meanwhile they live like the world and do things that go against the will of God.
The woman Jezebel, who Jesus spotted and unveiled by bringing her evil works of darkness into the light, was a warning from Jesus to the Church and should have caused a spiritual watchfulness in the churches.
But instead that the church stayed spiritually awake and alert and faithful to the Word and held on to the Head, the church has allowed the flesh to take over and has been led by the flesh, through which the spirit of tolerance, which works in the feelings and emotions of people, has overcome and has allowed the Jezebel spirit in the church.
Therefore many churches have become like the woman Jezebel and have exalted themselves above Jesus Christ, just like queen Jezebel, who was evil and full of pride and exalted herself above her husband.
They have silenced the true prophets of God, who preached the truth and called the people to repentance. They have spiritually killed them by removing them from the churches and have replaced them by false prophets of the devil, who belong to the world and prophecy out of their flesh under the influence of demonic powers from the depths of Satan, after the flesh, which causes spiritual adultery, fornication, apostasy and sexual uncleanness.
Just like Jerusalem killed the prophets of God and is described in the Word of God as the adulterous woman, who trusted in her own beauty and played the harlot, because of her fame and committed abominations and whoredoms (a.o. Ezekiel 16, Matthew 23:37, Luke 13:34), the church of Jesus Christ has become like the woman Jezebel, who exalts herself above her Husband and commit fornication with the world, because of prosperity, riches and fulfilling the lusts and desires of the flesh.
But Jesus is merciful and Jesus still calls His Church to repentance and to remove these false doctrines, including the false doctrine of Jezebel from the Church. Jesus calls the Church to remove her sins out of her midst and return to the Word.
Don’t let the Church of Jesus Christ be killed by the spirit of Jezebel and the doctrine of Jezebel, but instead let the Church repent of her pride, vain glory, vain way and evil works and submit to Jesus Christ, Who is the Head of the Church and obey Jesus only, by returning to the Word and be led only by the Word and the Holy Spirit, Who will never contradict the Word but confirms the Word.
