People talk a lot, sometimes even too much. But what kind of words come out of their mouth? Do they speak words of life that keep them save or do they speak words of death that bring them into trouble? Many people, including Christians, have a victim mentality and speak out of their carnal heart, whereby they present themselves as victims, instead of victors in Christ. Instead of presenting Christ and experiencing joy, they have pity parties and invite as many people as possible to their pity parties. What about you? Where does your mouth lead you? Joy or pity party?
Pity party conversations
Sometimes it looks like a game, whereby people compete against each other to see, who is the most pitiest of them. Let’s have a look at two examples of everyday ‘pity party’ conversations deriving from a victim mentality.:
Person a: Hello, it’s good to see you again!
Person b: Hello, how are you?
Person a: “Well, I have had such a difficult week at my work. Pff, you can see that the devil is after me”.
Person b: “Well isn’t that something! I experience the same thing! My colleagues are always so mean to me. You can see, who their master is”.
Person a: “Yeah, but nothing compares to what they did to me, you will never believe it”.
Person b: “Oh I believe you, because nothing can be worse than the way they’ve treated me, pff”.
Person a+b: “How long Lord, do we need to suffer?”
Person a: “Hi, how are you?”
Person b: “Oh, I have had such a tough week, and now I feel so miserable and tired. It feels like I am having the flu”.
Person a: “I don’t feel that great either, maybe I also have the flu. I have a sore throat, am sneezing the whole time, and have a drippy nose”.
Why are people always looking for a pity party?
We live in a world with a negative worldview. The more negative and pitiful you are, the cooler you get and the more attention you get. We live in a world, where people constantly murmur and complain. Most people don’t keep their problems private but inform everyone about their problems and their struggles and how hard life is for them. They always throw a pity party and with their words, they invite people to attend their pity party.
Why do many people have this victim mentality and compete against others to see who has the most problems? Who had the most difficult and problematic childhood? Whose past is the worst? Who is the sickest? Who has a tougher life?
Someone is sniffing at work and suddenly everyone feels sick.
The world is crying for attention! But wait a minute… Isn’t this also happening in the church?
The only difference is, that the church blames the devil. But the church has the same mentality and acts the same way as the world.
The main reason is that the church is carnal and therefore led by her senses, feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Many Christians love to have a pity party and invite others to join their pity party.
Do you believe what you proclaim?
Do you believe that the Word of God is the Truth? Do you believe the Scriptures you proclaim? Let’s say you don’t feel well. You are at home and constantly proclaim Isaiah 53:5 ir 1 Peter 2:24, that by His stripes you are healed. Then it’s time to go to the grocery store.
At the grocery store, you meet a friend, who asks you how you are doing. You will probably automatically say: “I am good, thanks”. But when the person notices that you look a little bit pale and asks you, how you really feel, you probably will be tempted to say: “you are right, I don’t feel well“.
When you speak out the words: “I don’t feel well”, you invalidate the words you proclaimed at home. When you said, that by His stripes you were healed.
Do you walk after the Spirit or after the flesh?
Do you walk after the Spirit? And do you live according to what the Word says? Or… Do you walk after the flesh? Do you live according to what your senses, feelings, and emotions say?
As a Christian, you are not like the world. Because you don’t belong to the generation of fallen mankind anymore, but you are a new creation (Taip pat skaitykite: The eighth day, the day of the new creation).
You are separated in Christ from the world. You are reconciled to God and are accepted by God. Your life should revolve around Him and His Kingdom.
When you accepted Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, you decided to sekite paskui Jį. And as you renew your mind with the Word, you shall speak words of life instead of death.
You shouldn’t allow your senses, emotions, thoughts, and feelings to rule and dictate your life. Instead, you should rule over them by the authority of Jesus Christ; Dievo Žodis, and the power of the Holy Spirit (Taip pat skaitykite: Take authority over your thoughts before they take authority over you).
Call those things which be not as though they were
The Bible says, that with your words you call those things which be not as though they were. Todėl, it is important to read and study the Bible and hold on to the words of truth and life and speak the words of God instead of speaking the words of the world, coming from the knowledge and wisdom of the world, and speaking negatively about yourself, your situations, circumstances, žmonių, ir tt
You need to guard your mouth and be careful of what you say. Because life and death are in the power of the tongue. Therefore every word you speak produces life or death.
Will you be a sower of the Word of God and produce life? Or will you be a sower of the world and produce death?
Watch your mouth!
I challenge you to watch your mouth and pay attention to your words. If you watch your mouth, you will be amazed at how many negative things you say about your own life, your family, friends, work, circumstances, future, etc., or how many times you use words that are related to death and sickness. For example, words such as die, dead, kill, sick, shoot me, etc..
Will you experience resistance from the people around you and will you experience hardships? Yes, you will. But the only way to keep standing is to stay in the Word and keep speaking what the Word says.
As soon as you are born again and enter the Kingdom of God, you no longer belong to the world, but you become an enemy of the world and the devil.
Every born-again Christian has entered spiritual warfare and has a spiritual battle to fight. There’s no one excluded! Although many Christians think they are (Taip pat skaitykite: Fighting against an invisible enemy).
Have you ever wondered, why you want to tell others about your life, struggles, and circumstances? Do you really need to inform others about your struggles, problems, (marital) fights, feelings, emotions, ir tt. so that you will draw attention to yourself?
There is no one, who can solve your problems and change your circumstances. The only One, Who can do anything about it is Jesus Christ.
Todėl, go to Jesus and stay in the Word. Keep your joy and don’t allow yourself to throw a pity party and dwell in your pity party. When you stay in the Word and speak and obey the Word, you will experience peace and joy in your life. Because the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Let the joy of the Lord be your strength.
