For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39)
The love of God is shown in His Son Jesus Christ, Who became our Substitute and took all our sins and iniquities and all our sicknesses, diseases, weaknesses, and our punishment for sin upon Himself, when He went to the whipping post and died on the cross at Calvary.
Jesus bore our stripes in His body, He bore our weaknesses in His body. He bore them all, so that we could be delivered from the sin nature and live in freedom and be reconciled with the Father and have a relationship with the Father.
The redemptive work on the cross was once and for all. There’s no one, who can do anything about it. It is done, it’s a fact and it is settled forever.
Both God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son have shown Their love through the redemptive work at the cross and no one and nothing can change that. No one and nothing can separate us from the love of God.
When Jesus said: “It is finished“, it meant that it was and is finished, once and for all. Jesus’ work was done. Jesus gave His life and poured out His blood for us.
The blood of Jesus Christ
Therefore it is so important to keep preaching the blood of Jesus and His redemptive work at the cross, which is the message of repentance and the remission of sins.
The love of God for people
The work at the cross shows us the great love of God for people. God gave His only Son for us, so that we could become sons of God and be reconciled with God and walk in newness of life and walk in the authority and dominion of Jesus Christ as sons of God on this earth, just like Jesus walked in the authority and dominion of His Father.
Through the redemptive work of the cross, He gave us the ability to have a victorious life.
He gave us the power, to become sons of God and live righteous in the light, instead of living in the bondage of sins in the kingdom of darkness.
God doesn’t want His people to live in bondage of sin and death. But God also doesn’t want other people to live in the bondage of sin and death in darkness.
Therefore God has given us the responsibility, as ambassadors of His Kingdom, to represent and preach the Kingdom of God on this earth and free people from the oppression of the devil, who is the ruler of the kingdom of darkness (Read also: If Christians stay silent, who shall set the captives of darkness free?).
Jesus has set the example for us and showed us how a Son of God should walk on earth. Now it’s our turn.
If we love Him, we shall follow Jesus. To follow means, doing the same thing(s) as He has done. It’s not about your will but His will.
Jesus has shown us, that if we lay down our lives and submit ourselves to Him, and live in Him; the Word, we can do the same things Jesus did. And even greater things than Jesus did, because Jesus went to the Father (John 14:12).
Submit yourself to God and resist the devil
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7)
Jesus has defeated the devil and took all his authority. However, the devil still has the ability to attack, since the devil is not cast into the eternal lake of fire. We still have a spiritual war to fight and we still have to resist the devil. You can only resist the devil by submitting yourself to God and His will and not give into the temptations of the devil.
Jesus has overcome the devil and has ALL the authority in the heavens and on earth.
If you are born again in Christ and stay in Him, you have ALL authority in Jesus Christ in the heavens and on earth.
Jesus Christ defeated the devil and reconciled man back to God
Jesus defeated the devil and took from him the keys (authority) of hell and dead. Jesus bore all sickness and disease on the whipping post and all sin on the cross. Because of that He entered Hades. But death was not strong enough to keep Him in the kingdom of death. And so Jesus Christ conquered death through His resurrection.
Through His redemptive work, Jesus restored the relation between God and fallen mankind.
Through the work on the cross of Jesus Christ, God gave us the ability, to become sons of God again, as God originally intended to with Adam (Luke 3:38).
Jesus showed how to walk in the authority and dominion of God on earth.
Adam failed, but Jesus didn’t fail. Jesus stayed faithful to God and resisted the devil.
Jesus was also tempted by the devil in the wilderness, just like Adam was tempted in the garden of Eden. But Jesus didn’t allow doubt to enter His mind and wasn’t misled by the deceptive words of the devil.
The devil tried to seduce Him, by using the words of God in a wrong manner. But Jesus knew who He was and didn’t have to prove Himself or use the words of God to fulfill the lusts and desires of the flesh.
Jesus knew His Father and His will and stayed faithful to His Father and was determined to execute His will.
Because Jesus loved His Father above all, Jesus walked in obedience to the will of His Father and kept His commandments. Through His faithfulness and obedience to God and His words Jesus beat the devil with His words.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God
Now let’s return to Romans 8:38-39. Is there anything that can separate us from the love of God? It is written that not death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, nothing and no one, no circumstances, no situation, nothing can do something about the work of love of God; the work on the cross, the reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. Nothing can separate us from Him. Yes, you read it well, it is finished!
You are free, in Him! No matter what people, situations or circumstances tell you. The Word says; It is finished, it is settled. God loves you, and He has shown that to you through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Nothing and no one can change that, no situation, no circumstances, no future. If you are born again and have become a new creation, then no one can condemn you, because there is no condemnation anymore for those who are in Christ, who walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh (Romans 8:1-4). Nothing can separate you from the love of God.
When people doubt or question the love of God. All you have to do is to look at the cross, where God has shown His great love. It is settled there, once and for all, Hallelujah!
