The power of the devil is sin. Sin is the devil’s matrix. The power of the devil is powered by the sin of people. When people sin (including people, who say they are born again Christians), they serve the devil and give the devil power and might through their sin. As long as people walk in sin, they serve sin and are slaves of sin. Through their sin, they honor, worship, and exalt the devil and the death.
The sons of the devil persevere in sin
Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his rivers, which has said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself (Ezekiel 29:3-4)
When people hold on to sin and do things that go against the Word of God, they obey the devil and are the devil’s workmanship. Or, as Jesus says, they are sons of the devil and enlarge his territory.
Why do ye not understand My speech? even because ye cannot hear My word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
And because I tell you the truth, ye believe Me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe Me? (John 8:43-46)
He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8)
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4)
Your actions determine to whom you belong to
Despite the fact, that you call yourself Christian, or that you go to church every week, your actions, works, and life determines, who you really are. You can say and confess all kinds of things, but if your actions and words don’t line up with the words you confess and don’t confirm your repentance, then you are not, who you say you are. You can hear the words of God, but if you don’t do them, then your heart doesn’t belong to Him.
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not (Ezekiel 33:31-32)
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate (Titus 1:16)
If you are not obedient to the Word, but to the world then you are not grafted on Jesus Christ and you shall not bear the fruit of the Spirit but the fruit of the flesh. Jesus hasn’t defeated sin and death so that you can keep on walking in sin. Jesus has defeated sin and death, so that you would have power in Him, over sin and death.
Believers, who abide in Jesus don’t sin
You have been made righteous and holy by the work of Jesus Christ, and not by your own works. As long as you stay in Him, you will also walk in holiness and righteousness. If you are born of His Spirit, and if His Spirit lives inside of you, you have His nature, and therefore you shall automatically do His will.
If you are born of God, you shall obey Him and do what pleases Him.
You shall no longer listen and do what your old father the devil pleases. Because everything that the devil pleases goes against the will of God. The devil enjoys the things, that are an abomination to God.
Jesus says, by this, you can distinguish the children of God and the children of the devil.
He that is of God hears God’s words: you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God (John 8:47)
In Him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him.(1 John 3:5-6)
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in Him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.(1 John 3:7-10)
The temptations of the world
Sin carries pain and death. People are constantly being tempted in the flesh, by the world, to sin. The temptations are strong and often seem innocent and attractive. But if you give in to the temptations and sin, the fruit is bitter and causes a lot of pain, hurt, sorrow, and destruction.
The world wants you to believe, that being rebellious is good and cool. But the reality is, that rebellion is stupid and dumb. Rebellious behavior goes against the Word of God and only causes misery
The temptation of alcohol
Take for example alcohol. When someone drinks alcohol it may taste good and may cause pleasant feelings and relaxation. It can even be used to escape problems, worries, thoughts, situations, etc. But this will only be temporary because these pleasant feelings will soon be taken over by terrible hangovers, negative feelings, depression, feelings of insecurity, aggressiveness, anger, and so on. When someone uses excessive alcohol on a regular basis, the character of the person will change.
A spirit of addiction will enter and the person will be controlled by the spirit of alcoholism.
This spirit will ensure that the person can’t live a day without alcohol, and will cause the person to become forgetful and suffer memory loss. The person’s normal feelings and sensitivity will disappear and the person will become selfish and don’t care about others.
The person shall only do those things that please him/her. As soon as someone says or does something that the person doesn’t like, (s)he will become offensive, angry, and maybe even aggressive. But, that’s not all.
Unclean sexual powers will enter the person’s life. Because the spirit of alcoholism is always joined together with a perverse spirit of sexual impurity. The person shall engage in porn, erotic magazines, and other men or women and commit adultery. Maybe the person will even secretly visit prostitutes to still the lusts and desires of the flesh.
People go their own way and will not listen
The Bible; the Word constantly warns people of rebellious behavior, that goes against God’s will. The Word of God is very clear about the will of God. But the main problem is, that most people don’t want to listen. They want to lead their own life, with as much prosperity and comfort as possible. The devil knows this and through devious techniques, and by twisting the Word of God, he has ensured that many false doctrines have entered churches and congregations, that respond to these lusts and desires of people.
Through false doctrines, that promise prosperity, riches, success, fame, etc., many people hang on to a gospel, that isn’t the gospel.
A gospel, that says that Jesus loves you, no matter how you live. That you are allowed to keep living in sin and do what you want to do. Because it’s all grace and the love of God! You don’t have to put away sin, you don’t have to put off the old carnal man, you don’t have to die to the flesh. We must accept each other, just the way we are. Because we may not judge, but we must walk in love.
But that’s not the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke hard words and never made concessions with sin, but preached the call to repentance.
Jesus preached time and time again, to not pay any attention to the flesh. But this modern gospel, which is preached in many churches and congregations, is only focused upon the flesh, and how a person can become as rich and prosperous as possible. This modern gospel is focused on fulfilling the lusts and desires of the carnal old creation
God loves people, but God can’t have communion with sin
God loves people, absolutely! He showed that to the entire world, by giving His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Jesus was completely obedient to the Father and was sacrificed as a spotless Lamb for humanity, to take away the sins of the world. The cross and the blood of Jesus prove God’s great love for man. But……God doesn’t love sinners, who habitually live in sin. Because God is holy and cannot have communion with sin. Even if you’ve become a son of God, you are not in the position and don’t have some kind of privilege to keep walking and living in sin.
No one has that privilege, not even Jesus. When Jesus took all the sins of the world upon Him, God left Him. Because God couldn’t have communion with sin. It’s unbelievable that there are many ‘believers’, who think that they are an exception to the rule and that they are allowed to sin.
If you are not willing to put away sin then you love your flesh more than the Spirit. You love death above life.
The power of the devil over your life
As long as you stay stubborn and keep living in sin, and don’t mind the warnings of the Word, and of your brothers and sisters, the devil shall have power over your life. The devil shall have power over your life, because you have given him this power, by sinning. Your actions show, that you belong to him, that you are his workmanship, and that you love him.
Every time you sin, you will work for the devil and exalt him and you will make a mockery of God.
If you don’t want the devil to have control over your life, and if you don’t want to give the devil power and exalt the devil, then all you have to do is remove the sin from your life!
Repent of your sin, remove the sin, make Jesus Lord of your life and follow Jesus.
Listen to Jesus and follow Him
Listen to Jesus and stay obedient to Him and His words. Only when you stay obedient to the Word and as long as you stay in Christ, the devil can’t touch you. When you abide in Christ, you will bear the fruit of the Spirit, and you will exalt Him.
Yes, instead of exalting the devil by sinning, you will exalt Jesus and the Father, by staying obedient to Him and walking in His will.
When you exalt God and bring His Kingdom onto this earth, you will destroy the works of the devil and deprive the power of the devil.
When people don’t want to submit to God and His Word and keep walking in sin, they give power to the devil. The more people live in sin, the greater the power of the devil will be.
If you want to deprive the power of the devil, and if you want to destroy the devil’s works, then all you have to do is: stop sinning.
Repent of your works that go against the will of God and His Word. Do what the Word of God tells you to do. Apply the words of God in your life, so that you will walk after the Word and live after the Spirit. Only when you live after the Spirit, you shall not fulfill the lusts and desires of your flesh, which leads to sin and eventually to death.
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16)
