What is the meaning of Proverbs 1:5-6, A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings?
A wise man hears and increases learning
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning ; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings (Paribasan 1:5-6).
The Word says, that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. Mulane, a wise man fears the Lord God and loves the Lord above all. He hears and listens to the words of God and increases learning.
The wise man isn’t rebellious and prideful in heart. A wise man doesn’t think, that he knows it all, and doesn’t exalt himself above others, including God.
But a wise man is humble and submissive towards God and has a willing attitude. He is not only receptive to the words and teachings of God but also to correction and chastisement.
A wise disciple (student, or pupil) is always willing to learn and submits to the teacher. Because of this behavior, he gains knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
A man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. So that he will understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
Only when a person hears and increases learning and gets understanding, a person becomes a wise and understanding man.
The walk of a wise and understanding man
A wise man shall always obey the words of God, keep His commandments, and walk in His ways. His ear shall always be attentive to the instructions of the Lord. Because He knows, that there is true wisdom in His words and instructions. His words are the truth, they are Spirit and life. Without His words, instructions, and correction, you shall not mature and not grow up in the image of Christ.
