I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly (Proverbs 5:14)
When you haven’t crucified your flesh and haven’t died to your ‘self’, then when someone corrects you, on the basis of the Word, you shall become offended, irritated, and angry.
Why do you become offended, irritated or angry? Because you think that you know it better than others. As long as you haven’t laid down your flesh, you will walk in pride and want to be recognised by others. Even if you say, that you are not prideful and haughty. The truth is, that as long as your ‘self’ still sits on the throne of your life, you are not able to walk in true humility.
When you brag about how much you have given to charity or if you tell people, what you have done for so and so, you are looking for recognition and praise from people. You want to show them, how much ‘good’ you have done. Therefore, these things show that you haven’t died yet to ‘self’.
There is only one person, who can sit on the throne of your life. It’s either you or Jesus. The first one is carnal, the second One is spiritual. The first one will lead you to eternal death, and the second One will lead you to eternal life.
